FAQ
What is a limited edition print?
Limited edition prints are commisioned from either a new or existing artwork. A print is produced in a limited number from this original artwork under the direct supervision of the artist. Prints are hand signed and numbered by the artist and accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity. A small number of Artist Proofs (APs) is also produced. These are generally identical to the prints in the main edition. The number of prints is always strictly limited to the number in the edition and the APs. No further prints are ever produced. Occasionally the APs are available for sale once the main edition has sold out.
What is an archival pigment print?
Archival pigment print (also known as Iris and Giclée) is produced using a digital printmaking process that uses refined particles of pigment, resilient to the environmental elements, to create stunning high-resolution, museum-quality works of art. Classified Matter Editions pigment prints are produced using wide gamut printers utilizing either Lucia Pro or UltraChrome Pro inks and are printed on acid-free HahnemühleFineArt papers that meet the highest archival standards. Please note that the print archival qualities may be affected by subsequent mounting and glazing options.
How do I handle archival pigment print?
Our prints are shipped in a two layer flat packaging and the print itself is wrapped in acid-free glassine paper inside a protective plastic clear sleeve which is secured within the internal flap cardboard pad. We strongly recommend not taking your print out of the internal flap cardboard pad (upon inspecting it for obvious shipping damage) until you take it to a framer to ensure it is handled by experienced art handlers.
We do understand that you may want to make sure that the print is to your taste and we provide a pair of white cotton gloves you need to wear when handling the print itself so no oil, dirt or contaminants are transferred to it causing damage. The print should be carefully wrapped back in the glassine paper and placed into the protective plastic sleeve and kept inside the flap cardboard pad until framed. Please note that if you do fully open your print and decide to return it, be extremely careful at the repackaging stage as it can sustain damage and you will not qualify for a refund.
Do you offer framing?
Yes, we do offer framing service for larger prints (over 42 x 59.4 cm | 16.5 x 23.4 in). Please enquire via email or telephone for further details and pricing.
For smaller prints (42 x 59.4 cm | 16.5 x 23.4 in size) we recommend you use a reputable framer and use UV protective glazing (like Artglass) to protect the print from UV light caused fading and damage. You can find out more about Artglass and UV protective glazing here - https://artglass.groglass.com/uv-protective/
Do the edition prices change?
As an edition sells and there is less availability the price increases. Most of our editions are launched at special launch prices and they are available at this special price for a limited period. In order to be aware of the launch we do recommend you join the mailing list.
